Lydia MacLear Biography
Lydia MacLear is a photographer specializing in children and family portraits. Lydia
fell in love with photography at Miss Porters School which launched her lifelong
passion and commitment to the art. Experienced at both candid and formal photography,
Lydia studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, School of Visual Arts, and American
College in Paris. She is a graduate of Barnard College where she majored in Art
History.
Some of the publications Lydia’s photographs have been featured in are Town and
Country, The New York Times, Greenwich Post, Greenwich Citizen
and Ocean Views. She is known for her fine exhibition black and white fiber
based prints and giclee color canvases. Lydia is also recognized for the recent
introduction of first edition fine art coffee table books, custom made for individual
families.
Lydia photographs many prominent families and celebrities both regionally and abroad.
She is committed to capturing the inner spirit of the child and the dynamics of
the family. She has the required patience to bring out the essence of the individual
and to make the sitter comfortable in front of the camera. She is described as possessing
tremendous sensitivity to the moods and personalities of children.
